How to get there ?
by AIR There are many possible ways to reach Marseille by plane. Marseille Provence Airport (Marseille Aéroport de Provence: www.marseille.aeroport.fr / Tel: + 33 (0)4 42 14 14 14 - Fax: + 33 (0)4 42 14 27 24) being the fourth French airport, it offers many possibilities. It is associated with 30 National and International airlines, offers 28 daily flights Paris/Marseille (flight duration 1h20), 15 connections to French cities, and several connections to 91 cities in 37 different countries. Note that two low-cost airlines (Ryanair and Easyjet) connect Marseille to many other European and French cities (Easy Jet connects Marseille to London, UK, only). You will then land in the "mp2" airport, which is very near to the main Marseille Provence airport (www.mp2.aeroport.fr) and not far from the Shuttle stop. Shuttles (called "navettes") take you from the airport to Marseille St Charles railway station (just nearby the conference venue) in only 25mn and 8.50 € one way. They leave every 20mn (from the airport: between 5.10 and 0.10 or later depending on scheduled flight arrivals; from the station St Charles: between 4.30 and 23.30) on an everyday basis (www.navettemarseilleaeroport.com / Aéroport de Provence Shuttle service : + 33 (0)4 42 14 31 27 / St Charles Shuttle service: Tel: + 33 (0)4 91 50 59 34). If you prefer to take a taxi from the airport to Marseille, this should cost you about 40€ in the daytime and about 50€ at night. Night fare is from 19.00 to 7.00 and on sundays and during holidays it is from 00.00 to midnight. Taxis Aéroport de Provence: www.taxis-aeroport.com / taxis@taxis-aeroport.fr / 24h/24 – Tel: + 33 (0)4 42 14 24 44 - fax : + 33 (0)4 42 88 04 77 Groupement Taxis Tupp Radio: www.taxis-tupp.com / info@taxis-tupp.com / Tel : + 33 (0)4 91 05 80 80 - fax : + 33 (0)4 91 50 37 39 If you're coming from outside Europe, you may prefer to land in Paris, Nice or Lyon. If you do not find an interesting connecting flight to Marseille, note that there are direct train connections from Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle Airport (Paris) to Marseille and the trip takes only 4 hours on average (on the fast TGV train). Lyon is only 1h40mn from Marseille by train (TGV). Nice is 2h30mn away by bus (when there is no traffic; see the bus timetable) and 2-3 hours away by train; the ride along the coast is actually very nice, but note that you would first need to go from Nice airport to Nice Ville to have a direct train connection to Marseille St Charles, which will significantly lengthens your trip. Please check the "by train" section below for more information. by TRAIN There are 200 daily trains leaving from and arriving in Marseille railway station (St Charles), 17 TGV (fast train) Méditerranée Paris/Marseille per day (3 hours).
